“Been Through Some Stuff But I Still Do” — Walker Hayes Honors 21 Years of Marriage With Touching Throwback Post

With his brand-new album 17 Problems out now, Walker Hayes is taking a sentimental look back at where it all began — his wedding day.

In a touching new Instagram post, the country hitmaker flips through pages of his and wife Laney’s wedding album while his heartfelt track “I Still Do” plays in the background. The video, simple but deeply emotional, offers fans a rare glimpse into their love story — from the smiles captured on June 12, 2004, to the quiet moments that came after saying “I do.”

“Do this with your wedding album🥲 been through some stuff but I still do ❤️🙏 #istilldo,” Hayes wrote in the caption, encouraging fans to share their own stories using the song.

A Song Rooted in Real-Life Love

Written by Hayes alongside Dan Henig, Dylan Guthro, and Shane McAnally, “I Still Do” is an unfiltered reflection on marriage — not the picture-perfect kind, but the kind that survives life’s toughest storms.

Through raw, honest lyrics, Hayes explores the side of love that rarely makes it into vows — the exhaustion, the financial strain, the quiet battles with loss and addiction — all anchored by unshakable devotion.

“We said for better, we said for worse / But we didn’t know what worse would mean / We said for richer, we said for poorer / But we didn’t know how broke we’d be…”

The song is one of the emotional standouts on 17 Problems, a record that dives into Hayes’ life, faith, family, and the road that shaped him. Alongside “I Still Do,” tracks like “100 Pencils” and the humorous “Next Wife” reveal his ability to mix humor, heartbreak, and hard-earned wisdom.

A Love Story That Began in Grade School

Walker and Laney’s story stretches back decades — all the way to Mobile, Alabama, where they first met in elementary school. They began dating in high school, briefly broke up after college, and later reunited for good. In June 2004, they married, building a family of six children together.

Their bond has endured incredible highs and devastating lows, including the loss of their seventh child, Oakleigh Klover, in 2018. Through it all, Laney has remained Walker’s anchor — joining him at shows, red carpets, and family-filled tours that have become a trademark of the Hayes clan.
