The Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act, introduced by Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.), passed 265–148, with 54 Democrats joining
Republicans in support. The bill requires federal authorities to detain such offenders until deportation and adds a new class of inadmissibility for migrants accused of assaulting police.
